- Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Adam Up
It's been a few weeks since I sent out an edition of this newsletter broadcast. Mainly because we had some website challenges (my personal website was hacked) and I've been really busy due to the start of our new academic year and a couple of other projects I am involved with. Onto today and this edition....
The main aim of this Adam Up periodical newsletter I've been sending out for the past two decades has always been to equip readers with stimulating information and psychological tools to aid with varying facets of life as well as helping to concentrate upon and amplify positive shifts we can make in our thinking, our behaviour, our attitudes and perspectives - and it is during these times when so much
seems negative that I want my work to be able to help.
The reason for my headline is that I've been actively using self-hypnosis myself and teaching a particular protocol to a number of my clients to help with maximising gains made in the gym or as a result of any kind of exercise. It has proven revolutionary for me and I was keen to share it with a video explanation.
In this edition, I have a couple of new articles covering the topics of what to do when you feel lost in life and how to stop worrying whether people like you.
I've also included a couple of new videos; one that I previously mentioned about using self-hypnosis to maximise gains made at the gym, and another one whereby I talk about my own challenges with caffeine and how I have substituted it for self-hypnosis, placebo and decaf in recent months with great effect.
Myself, and all of us who work here hope you will all stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world.
And just as a reminder, you are receiving this email because you signed up for this ezine, downloaded a course prospectus or attended a course at some point in time. If you no longer wish to receive this weekly hypnosis and personal development ezine, you may unsubscribe by clicking the link at the foot of this email. I only want you to receive it each week if you find it of value and you actually read it.
Also, we delete you from our distribution if you have not opened these emails for a while.
In compliance with GDPR, the only information that we hold is your name and email address. We will not share these details with anyone and we will only use them to send you this and related, relevant broadcasts. This broadcast is only sent to people who have signed up with our double opt-in system.
Ok, let's get on with it, shall we?

What to do When You Feel Lost in Life & How to Stop Worrying Whether People Like You...

"We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us." – Joseph Campbell
The current situation in the world is leaving some people feeling lost for a variety of reasons. Are you feeling lost? Are you feeling that you are lacking in direction? Don’t know what you are doing in life? It’s very common for people in a wide variety of life circumstances and age groups right now to be feeling a little lost. Feeling lost can feel a lot like depression for some people.
You might feel unmotivated and uninterested in everyday activities or even not be deriving the joy you usually do from things that used to make you happy.
You might feel like life is lacking meaning. You also might feel like you’ve lost sight of the person you want to be. You might no longer recognise yourself. You may see no way out of it.
Research shows that when the tides of emotion are high, it’s easy to get lost. It can appear impossible to know which way you are really heading. Read this article in full for all the references, tips and ideas...

“The minute you start caring about what other people think, is the minute you stop being yourself.” — Meryl Streep
Does it effect your self-esteem when you consider what other people think of you? Are you troubled by other’s opinions? In a modern world that seems to be fuelled by approval and ‘likes’ of various kinds, we are likely to spend some time considering what others think about us.
Being a human we often enjoy being liked and accepted. However, it often leads us worrying too much about what others are thinking about us. Excessive worrying as a result can have a negative effect on our life.
We can all care too much what other people think of us. Excessive worrying prevents you from living your life to the fullest potential. At UC Berkeley, Sonia Bishop, associate professor of psychology and cognitive neuroscience, has found that anxious people make worse decisions amid uncertainty. There are many more downsides of worrying whether people like us or not.
To read the reasons research tells us to stop worrying, along with a range of ways to go about stopping worrying about whether people like you, read the article in full here...

Using Self-Hypnosis to Maximise Gains Made in the Gym, Using Self-Hypnosis as a Caffeine Replacement and the Need for Less Sycophancy in the Hypnotherapy Field....

If you follow me on social media, it won't have escaped you that I was once a fairly average endurance runner, who then took up weightlifting. This year, with the help of my coach, I have really gone on to a place where I have made what I consider to be major gains, both with the size and shape of my body and with the number of kilograms I am capable of
lifting.
One of the major challenges I find that I have with the greater demands I place upon my body, is that of recovery and maximising the gains made in the gym. Now that I am in my late 40s, recovery is not as fast as it once was, that's for sure. I do my best to eat healthily, I supplement well and diligently, I work on my sleep being deep and regular, and plenty more besides. Importantly though, I also dedicate time to my own psychological well-being and use my mindset and self-hypnosis
understanding to aid my recovery and maximise the gains I make, which I have found to make a major difference.
In this video I talk through the self-hypnosis process that I use and that I share with many of my clients to advance the gains made in the gym and enhance recovery. Enjoy...

Secondly..... Caffeine has posed some major issues for me in the past and I have a tempestuous relationship with it. As a result I decided to apply some placebo science and self-hypnosis to help solve my challenge and the results were magnificent for me. In this video I share some of the science that influenced me, and share the process I’ve been using. The links I refer to in the video are listed beneath the video on the following page, enjoy…

Finally...According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a sycophant as a person who praises powerful people in order to get their approval. In this video I am doing my best to highlight how much this happens in the hypnotherapy field and that it needs to lessen or stop altogether if we are to truly grow as a field. Enjoy...
The Ultimate Pandemic Skill:
Learn Self-Hypnosis...
|
I'm biased, but I think that self-hypnosis is an incredible skill, a psychological skill that can be imported to most environments of your life and applied to most aspects of your mental and physical well-being.
There are many myths and misconceptions about self-hypnosis, and it is typically taught incorrectly and not in line with scientific findings or with academic literature. It is an easy to apply skill that anyone can learn and achieve great things with and an aim of ours here is to disseminate that understanding to the public.
Free Self-Hypnosis Tuition:
A great place to start learning is to download my self-hypnosis roadmap if you've not done so already, for free on this page of the college website: Self-Hypnosis
Roadmap.
These free resources are all based upon my own research conducted at Bournemouth University and my book on the subject, the Science of Self-Hypnosis.
My Online Self-Hypnosis Educational Programme:
I have some exciting news. In recent weeks, we have added many additional resources and additional comprehensive materials to our online self-hypnosis educational training programme.
Anyone who ever invests in this programme gets all the updates for free for life, so if you already own this programme, you'll have lots of extra study materials to read, tune in to and apply to your life. If you are yet to invest and are considering, then I simply wanted you to know that it offers even more value now; and the investment fee has remained the same as it ever was (less than one hundred
pounds).
In recent weeks, my social media output has been filled with video clips of me squatting at the gym, memes about hypnosis, photos from my life and loads of articles from our vaults and some other bits and pieces.

Studying With Adam:
The Anglo European College reopening at the end of Summer...
|
Our classrooms reopened in recent weeks. We have been following guidance to make our classrooms safe; there's been hand sanitiser, temperature checking, social distancing and much more besides.
New Dates:
As our latest diploma gets underway each year, it means we launch our next year's diploma and so we have new dates for our hypnotherapy practitioner diploma courses that start in 2021. Read the course prospectus in full and see the new dates and updates made to the course by clicking this link.
New Live Online Option:
Following the Coronavirus pandemic, we now offer this full diploma course LIVE online. We already offer our online hypnotherapy diploma course that is studied using videos and manuals, but this offering is that you attend the classes from home live as I deliver them in the classroom to our class delegates.
You can ask questions as if you were in class, you can engage in all the class exercises as if you were in class, and importantly, you'll get the exact same accreditation and certifications as if you were in class. The hypnotherapy associations mentioned in our prospectus will award the same high level of accreditation for those who attend the live online course offering. They usually expect a minimum number of classroom hours to be attended in order to adhere to National Occupational Standards,
but have now exercised a degree of flexibility during these challenging and unusual times to ensure you can still gain the highest level of accreditation.
You attend class on the same days as we offer the class as stated in this prospectus, but you'll do so from the comfort of your own home on your computer. We provide you with all the details to login and attend class. We will have a dedicated member of our team ensuring you are seen and heard if you have questions during class at all times and will ensure you are able to interact as if you were in class with us; which you ultimately will be.
If you had wanted to join us but were concerned about Covid-19, then this is a great solution. If you had wanted to train with this college and with me, but were unable to travel, then this is a great solution. If you had wanted to train with us but reside a distance away from Bournemouth and could not afford the additional accommodation costs, then this is great solution.
