- Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Adam Up
We are about to shut up shop for the Festive season here. Today, I'll be joining my wife and children and focusing on Christmas with them and will be back open for business in the new year.
The changes we've undergone to our plans in recent days due to the pandemic here in the UK have thrown most people's original plans into chaos - get-togethers with loved ones have been cancelled and there is a great deal of uncertainty about what the New Year holds in terms of how long our regions will be in various tiers of lockdown.
I hope you are all able to let go of worries and overthinking, stay in touch with the truth of the present moment, stay hopeful and be able to uplift yourselves and others.
The main aim of this Adam Up periodical newsletter I've been sending out for the past two decades has always been to equip readers with stimulating information and psychological tools to aid with varying facets of life as well as helping to concentrate upon and amplify positive shifts we can make in our thinking, our behaviour, our attitudes and perspectives - and it is during these times when so much
seems negative that I want my work to be able to help.
Since last March, I have shared articles, videos and classes aiming to help people to let go of worries, reduce overthinking, increase hopefulness, connect in more meaningful ways and elevate mood wherever possible. It's been tough for all of us in varying ways.
Today however, I'm not sharing any articles or videos (though this week's evidence based meme is attached below and a brief reminder of a project I'm leading below), I'm just sending well wishes.
Myself, and all of us who work here hope you will all stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world. If you are in lockdown (or a strict tier with restrictions as is the case here in the UK), I hope you are coping and your mental health is bearing up.
I wish you the very best for the new year ahead, and I wish you and your loved ones a healthy festive season. Most importantly, from myself, my family and all who work here at this college, we send much love to you.
We'll be back in 2021.

Research Participants Required:
Join us as a participant in a major hypnosis research study...
|
In case you missed it when I sent this out a couple of weeks ago, we've just had an extension to the timeframe of this study. If you feel that you'd be able to participate before the 31st of December, then read on....
Would you be interested in being a participant in a major hypnosis research study?
I am running an experiment at Bournemouth University, within the Psychology department as part of a wider research programme. In the study you'll be screened for hypnotisability, you'll experience hypnosis a number of times, you'll learn some interesting psychological skills and you'll take part in a computer game, the study is called:
The Effect of Hypnosis and Psychological Skills Training on Stroop Task Performance.
The entire process can be conducted from the comfort of your own home and will take approximately 2-2.5 hours in total spread across two consecutive days. We are looking for participants and I'd love it if you would take part.
To enrol in the study as a participant, please visit the following page, read and complete the consent form and then click the submit button. Shortly after that (during UK working hours), you'll be sent login details to start your participation in the study:
If you have any questions, get in touch; thank you for considering being a part of this study.
Best wishes, Adam.
In recent weeks, my social media output has been filled with video clips of me squatting at the gym, memes about hypnosis, photos from my life and loads of articles from our vaults and some other bits and pieces.
