The main aim of this Adam Up regular newsletter I've been sending out for the past two decades has always been to equip readers with stimulating information and psychological tools to aid with varying facets of life as well as helping to concentrate upon and amplify positive shifts we can make in our thinking, our behaviour, our attitudes and perspectives - and it is during these times when so much seems negative that I
want my work to be able to help.
Therefore you might think that the subject line to this edition is a bit odd - The Perfect Recipe To Self-Destruction!? - As someone commented on YouTube; "WTH?" It is reference to a video that I put together and recorded offering up the most evidence based component parts that will lead to self-destruction. It comes with a big disclaimer, was recorded with tongue-in-cheek, and all aspects of what I recommend can be reversed for your
betterment.
I've also included videos on how to feel fully energised at the start of each day, and how to use self-hypnosis to alter your body temperature, which is a wonderful thing to be able to do.
In this edition, I have shared again a section specifically dedicated to the coronavirus pandemic and giving a range of resources to help deal with these challenging times.
I have also shared a new article on how to stop being so judgemental, especially if it is causing a detrimental effect in your life. Also, I've included a bunch of resources for anyone looking to learn the ultimate lockdown skill of self-hypnosis.
Myself, and all of us who work here hope you will all stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world. If you are a key worker who is still tirelessly working for the benefit of everyone else in varying forms and levels of lockdown, then I salute you and thank you for all that you do.

How to Stop Judging Others...

If you or someone you know regularly and automatically judges others without fully understanding those others, and it is proving to be detrimental to do so, then this is for you (and them). There will be times
when fair judgement is necessary and required, but in this article I’m focusing on the problems that arise from ill-conceived judgement or judgement laden with bias, or just whereby judging others has become so commonplace in your life that it is causing problems for you; many don’t even realise they are doing it.

The world is experiencing a great deal of change, challenge and fervour of varying types right now. Most people have a position of some kind on the current state of play in varying aspects of life. If we judge, it often effects how we feel and think, and often to our detriment. We can still make a stand, we can still express ourselves effectively, but perhaps dispense with some of the judgement.

The start of the day is a time when our body and mind is receptive, recharged (usually), and ready to set the tone for the day ahead. Many psychological practices recommend using this time early in the morning to help you make the most of the day ahead and to get yourself properly prepared.
Very often self-hypnosis is associated with relaxation, calmness and stillness, yet it absolutely can be used for inspiring ourselves, motivating ourselves and of course get energised.
In this video, I share with you a self-hypnosis process that can get you energised and motivated, ready for the day ahead. Something that I think lots of people benefit from doing, especially while in lockdown!
Here on the south coast of England in the midst of lockdown, it is hot. We are experiencing a heatwave (by our standards) and it is hotter than it usually is at this time of year. I sometimes struggle to sleep when it is so warm. I know others have the same challenge; my Facebook newsfeed is filled with comments relating to the heat at night.
This issue can be alleviated with self-hypnosis, and this video explains and gives instructions on how to do just that.

I'm biased, but I think that self-hypnosis is an incredible skill, a psychological skill that can be imported to most environments of your life and applied to most aspects of your mental and physical well-being.
There are many myths and misconceptions about self-hypnosis, and it is typically taught incorrectly and not in line with scientific findings or with academic literature. It is an easy to apply skill that anyone can learn and achieve great things with and an aim of ours here is to disseminate that understanding to the public.

These free resources are all based upon my own research conducted at Bournemouth University and my book on the subject, the Science of Self-Hypnosis.

A Range of Amazing Resources For Dealing With The Coronavirus Pandemic...

I shared this last time out, and have included it again here in case you missed it....
With the official announcement by the WHO stating that the covid-19 coronavirus is now considered a pandemic, I thought I’d offer up a lecture about what us hypnotherapists can credibly do to help. That is, over and beyond the practical official guidelines and offering stress/anxiety related support, I thought I'd share some detailed information about a direct way we (hypnotherapists and self-hypnotists) can help the cause by helping spread quality information and teaching or applying the use of
hypnosis to advance immune functioning.
So I've made some reference to a number of key studies and good quality evidence to support this application of hypnosis. I have also offered up a couple of specific protocols to use with clients or with yourself using self-hypnosis:
