- Hello and welcome to this week's edition of Adam Up
Earlier this week, I had laid out the children's new (as in the next size up) school uniforms, helped them overcome their nerves about going back to after the Summer holidays and got myself all excited about the new academic year ahead. Not just for them, but for me too.... I have my intensive diploma course next week, then two weeks after that my latest monthly
diploma course starts, my latest research project commences at Bournemouth University, the UK Hypnosis Convention is fast approaching; it is all a bit manic but fresh and wonderful right now.
Onwards.... This week, I'm sharing with you a couple of new videos that build upon the recent 20 minute crash course in self-hypnosis skills video I shared with you last time out. One gives loads of instructions on how to use Emile Coué's imagination experiments and how to use self-hypnosis and create your own hypnotic phenomena. The other video features me out in space with the Red Dwarf
spaceship. Oh yes. My all time favourite TV show is the sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf, and I managed to share some interplanetary space with it, all revealed further on in this edition....
I've also got a brand new course I'm offering that I have spent quite some time developing; a certificate course in hypnosis for sports performance that I am really proud to offer and very excited about. In this course, I'm sharing a set of skills we've been testing in a ground breaking research study at the sports laboratory of Bournemouth University, whereby self-hypnosis, when taught to
anyone, is proven to increase muscular strength in the absence of anything else. These are surprising self-hypnosis skills that you are not currently using, because the methodology has not been shared publicly yet.
On top of that, I have two new articles for you. I write about the value and importance of being a good role model and how to be a good friend - and the ways both enrich your life.
I'm also sharing some speaker interview videos from recent week's now that we are getting full under-way with the promotional efforts for the UK Hypnosis Convention. They contain so much of value! There is also a special UKHC edition of the Hypnosis Weekly podcast.
In addition to all this new stuff I'm sharing with you this week, I also have a new evidence-based hypnosis meme for you.
And just as a reminder, you are receiving this email because you signed up for this ezine, downloaded a course prospectus or attended a course at some point in time. If you no longer wish to receive this weekly hypnosis and personal development ezine, you may unsubscribe by clicking the link at the foot of this email. I only want you to receive it each week if you find it of value and you actually read it. Also, we delete you from
our distribution if you have not opened these emails for a while.
In compliance with GDPR, the only information that we hold is your name and email address. We will not share these details with anyone and we will only use them to send you this and related, relevant broadcasts. This broadcast is only sent to people who have signed up with our double opt-in system.
Ok, let's get on with it, shall we?
Big Announcement! New Course!
Hypnosis for Sports Performance Certification Course.
|
I’ve been asked about running a hypnosis for sports training programme for a number of years now and have long had plans to run one. I wanted it to be something that was not just thrown together and so I have taken a lot of time in putting this together in order to deliver a very high quality training course for all those who attend. At the moment, this is a one-off training course that I have worked into the
college’s 2020 schedule.
It is very evidence-based, includes a lot of cognitive sports psychology, and is something I am really proud of and very excited to offer. It will also be the first time that I publicly teach the hypnosis protocol that I have been using in the sports laboratory at Bournemouth University which has been proven to increase muscular strength.
A more comprehensive account of what's included in this weekend long course, along with dates, fees and much more can be read at this page of the college website.Spaces are limited.

Additional - since it was launched two weeks ago, we now have very few spaces remaining and I won't be mentioning this course here again.

A couple of comment rebuttals.....

In this video, I’m in space with my favourite ever space ship… Red Dwarf!! In a change from the usual set up, I’ve gone full-blown sci-fi because of the topic of this clip.
In it, I thought I’m sharing one of the psychological processes I use personally and one I use with my weight reduction clients – using self-hypnosis to help make the changes. The aim is that it updates and changes the internal blueprint that you have of your own body shape.
It combines some classic ideas with a couple of my other favourite processes from related fields.
Weight reduction needs to be a long term process – and usually multi-faceted and comprehensive, so use this often, regularly and in conjunction with a number of other aspects that contribute to your ideal size, shape and weight.
Simply follow the 7 steps outlined in this video for Outer Space Body Shaping, resulting in updating and advancing many facets of yourself in regards to your ideal size, shape and weight.
I hope you find it useful, enjoy.

This Week's Articles:
How & Why To Be A good Friend... And a Role Model.
|
“If you are given a chance to be a role model, I think you should always take it because you can influence a person’s life in a positive light, and that’s what I want to do. That’s what it’s all about.” – Tiger Woods
We usually think of role models as those we admire and wish to emulate. When someone asks us, "who is your role model”, we often feel clueless or we have a hero or two in mind. There is no “perfect” answer, even though there are many options available in our life and society. It’s hard to pick a particular role model who fits us, mainly because we know we should be realistic in choosing a role model who suits specific goals we have for ourselves or role models who represent a certain area of our
life.
Sometimes our mind rejects those we may think are unattainable or assumes you can never become someone like that in terms of the heights they have reached, especially if they did so against the odds or adverse situations.
However, it’s time to stop looking for the perfect role model. Instead, be a role model. People in your life may be struggling to have effective, positive and strong role models in their lives (especially if you recognise the reasons I have given already) and you can plug that gap. There are some common characteristics and actions you can incorporate. Read this article for the evidence, research references and to have explained the frequently mentioned qualities:
How To Be a Great Role Model.
“Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It’s not something you learn in school. But if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learned anything.”– Muhammad Ali
There are plenty of studies that have explained how we become healthier when we feel supported by others: lower blood pressure, better hormone function, stronger immune systems and possibly lower levels of inflammation. The opposite is also true.
A 2010 meta-analysis by Holt-Lunstad, Smith and Layton combined data on more than 308,000 people across 148 studies, showed a strong connection between social relationships and life span. The size of the effect rivaled that of better-known health-related behaviours such as stopping smoking and exercising.
A 2015 analysis by Holt-Lunstad and colleagues compiled data on more than 3.4 million people across 70 studies, and shows that the absence of social connections carried the same health risk as smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day. Loneliness led to worse outcomes than obesity. And the findings held true for people of all ages. In 2018, British Prime Minister at the time, Theresa May, went so far as to appoint a national minister for loneliness.
In this article, I focus more specifically on friendship because it offers up so much benefit. How can we cultivate more and stronger relationships? It’s a two-way street. You can’t expect to make a good friend without being a good friend. That’s what this article is all about. Read it for the references and important strategies to adopt:
