- Hello and welcome to this week's edition of Adam Up
It is a Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK and I am writing this just before signing off for the long weekend, having a bit of a big hurrah here before my children go back to school the week after next. I've ordered sunshine, high jinx and Lemon drizzle G&Ts and can't wait to switch off for a few days and have some quality time with friends and
family.
Onwards.... This week, I'm sharing with you a major new video that comprises of a 20 minute crash course in self-hypnosis skills, as informed by research. It's really useful and contains no fluff, just out and out solid instruction on how to use self-hypnosis and create your own hypnotic phenomena.
I have a couple of other videos whereby I've been responding to comments made online by hypnosis professionals - comments that I think needed a robust and considered rebuttal.
I've also got a brand new course I'm offering that I have spent quite some time developing; a certificate course in hypnosis for sports performance that I am really proud to offer and very excited about. In this course, I'm sharing a set of skills we've been testing in a ground breaking research study at the sports laboratory of Bournemouth University, whereby self-hypnosis, when taught to
anyone, is proven to increase muscular strength in the absence of anything else. These are surprising self-hypnosis skills that you are not currently using, because the methodology has not been shared publicly yet.
On top of that, my new article is about a topic that seems obvious to me - that of self-education. I write about the value and importance of being a lifelong learner and how to go about becoming more self-educated each and every day of your life - it'll work wonders in your life.
I'm also sharing some speaker interview videos from this past week now that we are getting full under-way with the promotional efforts for the UK Hypnosis Convention.
In addition to all this new stuff I'm sharing with you this week, I also have a new evidence-based hypnosis meme for you.
And just as a reminder, you are receiving this email because you signed up for this ezine, downloaded a course prospectus or attended a course at some point in time. If you no longer wish to receive this weekly hypnosis and personal development ezine, you may unsubscribe by clicking the link at the foot of this email. I only want you to receive it each week if you find it of value and you actually read it. Also, we delete you from
our distribution if you have not opened these emails for a while.
In compliance with GDPR, the only information that we hold is your name and email address. We will not share these details with anyone and we will only use them to send you this and related, relevant broadcasts. This broadcast is only sent to people who have signed up with our double opt-in system.
Ok, let's get on with it, shall we?
Big Announcement! New Course!
Hypnosis for Sports Performance Certification Course.
|
I’ve been asked about running a hypnosis for sports training programme for a number of years now and have long had plans to run one. I wanted it to be something that was not just thrown together and so I have taken a lot of time in putting this together in order to deliver a very high quality training course for all those who attend. At the moment, this is a one-off training course that I have worked into the
college’s 2020 schedule.
It is very evidence-based, includes a lot of cognitive sports psychology, and is something I am really proud of and very excited to offer. It will also be the first time that I publicly teach the hypnosis protocol that I have been using in the sports laboratory at Bournemouth University which has been proven to increase muscular strength.
A more comprehensive account of what's included in this weekend long course, along with dates, fees and much more can be read at this page of the college website.Spaces are limited.

For quite a while now I have wanted to have a playlist on my YouTube channel that teaches a wide range of self-hypnosis applications for enhancing well-being. So in coming weeks, I’ll be offering lots of different techniques and strategies to combine with self-hypnosis. However, those videos are unlikely to be useful or stimulating if you do not know how to engage in the self-hypnosis process to begin with.
In this video, I talk you through the self-hypnosis process I recommend that is informed by research. I published a peer reviewed journal article last year that offered up the first ever systematic review and meta analysis of clinical applications of self-hypnosis and this is the process that advances the chances of success according to that review.
This short clip will give you a basic framework with which you can then apply the skills I am going to be sharing in coming weeks.
I hope you find it useful and stimulating, enjoy:
Do share this video with friends, family or colleagues who'd like to learn this skillset.

This Week's Main Article:
How & Why To Self-Educate....
|
I am a big supporter of formal education, having attended college and University after school, I enjoyed that education and what it gave me. More recently, my own PhD, although offered by a formal learning institution at Bournemouth University, it involves research and feels like a kind of hybrid of formal and self-education. However, today I am writing about the virtues of lifelong learning in the form of
self-education, and how to ensure you engage in it on a regular basis.
“Formal education will make you a living; Self-education will make you a fortune” – Jim Rohn
Degrees, certifications, and trainings are all very important for professional and personal development, I believe that and have experienced it. However, many people underestimate the power and benefits of self-learning. To be great at anything, you have to be dedicated as a life-long learner. Self-paced learning and self-initiated learning are very important parts of the process.
As humans, we need to cultivate a lifelong learning perspective. Whereby you seek to develop, advance and know more continually. You will progress through life better and more effectively if you keep that attitude throughout your life. You will feel more fulfilled personally as a result of always growing in your knowledge.
It’s not just about knowing more about the world or life in general – I have attended courses, read books and explored research about therapeutic parenting with a view to being a better Dad to my children. I’ve been on courses, sought out coaches, read research about how to run better and how to be a better athlete in the gym. We can all benefit from being self-educated in personal development and
self-improvement as well as other more specific practical areas of life ....
