- Hello and welcome to this week's edition of Adam Up
I hope that 2019 is going wonderfully well for you. It has been very interesting for me, I've been doing Veganuary and do not think I'll ever go back, I'm really enjoy being vegan. I have also been doing Dry January and not drunk anything alcoholic this year (nope, not one drop of gin has passed my lips!) and it has helped me get right on track with my fitness goals and helped in a number of
other ways.
I have a LOT to share with you in this edition of Adam Up.
The latest two episodes of the Hypnosis weekly podcast have gone live since the last edition of this ezine went out. Episode 105 was a fun episode. It featured Helen Mitas, hailing from down under, and she talked about a big mission she is on all around the globe, raising awareness of hypnotherapy... have a listen here:
Hypnosis Weekly Episode 105 - Featuring Helen Mitas.
Episode 106 is one I love for a number of reasons. Firstly, I talk all things stage hypnosis with Michael C. Anthony, award winning stage hypnotist. In this episode Michael shares one of my favourite stories told by one of my guests since I've been offering the podcast (about his kidney transplant). The discussion and interview are rolled into one, and I also share with you an exchange I had at Facebook with a very well known hypnotherapist who expressed doubts about research and evidence
base.
Hypnosis Weekly Episode 106 - Featuring Michael C Anthony.
I'm sharing with you two new videos today as well; one about a classic clichéd thing that so many hypnotherapists do, and one about some strange logic that many hypnotherapists display. Plus, I've got two new articles today; one talking about the importance of being present, and another about living life with integrity (that's a big one).
I've got a bunch of other stuff too (including very exciting notifications about the UK Hypnosis Convention), a fresh evidence based hypnosis meme of the week (a wonderfully different one), and a joke or two along the way.....
And just as a reminder, you are receiving this email because you signed up for this ezine, downloaded a course prospectus or attended a course at some point in time. If you no longer wish to receive this weekly hypnosis and personal development ezine, you may unsubscribe by clicking the link at the foot of this email. I only want you to receive it each week if you find it of value and you actually read it. Also, we delete you from
our distribution if you have not opened these emails for a while.
In compliance with GDPR, the only information that we hold is your name and email address. We will not share these details with anyone and we will only use them to send you this and related, relevant broadcasts. This broadcast is only sent to people who have signed up with our double opt-in system.
Ok, let's get on with it, shall we?
How To Be Present And Why It Matters:
|
Be present. That’s my message today.
“Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.” – Buddha.
Some people may well say it’s obvious or even redundant to say this is the one rule everyone should try to stick to: Be present. And still, we are always caught in between so many things that our attention span tends to reduce. From the moment you wake up, there are so many distractions that being present in whatever you are doing or dealing with at that moment might not be as easy as it seems. It is really easier said than done.
While reading this, you might be thinking about how to apply it to your own life, or reminiscing on past events when you feel you were present in the moment, or perhaps thinking about what you need to do when you’ve finished reading, or even thinking on what you were doing before you started – some of you may have the TV on in the background, or other windows open, or are speaking to others at the same time, and so on. It is a clear indication that your mind is wandering off after only 30
seconds of reading.
No matter what you do, aim to exercise your attention, give that task or activity your 100% attention as much as you are able. This goes from watching your daughter swimming to your work related tasks. Nothing will bring back time in your life, so be here, be present and give it your attention when it is important for you to be.
But we don’t. We move through daily life rushing from one task to the next, allowing our minds to play back an endless loop of ‘to-dos’, stress and often much negativity. Never fully appreciating one moment from the next, arriving at our next stop before we fully realise we left the last one. It is easy to get caught up in the mindless activities of living – home, work, meals, commute can all become routine. We find ourselves looking forward to the next big thing on the horizon – a party, a
trip, a date night…and we build it up, often expecting perfection. We go through the motions of daily life anticipating that big thing and allowing all the little things to pass us by. Life is not meant to be lived waiting for the perfect moments, the big things – it is comprised of the imperfect moments and all the little things that make us who we are. These are the things that count, these are the moments we live for – the hugs heading out to the school bus, the sighs over muddy paw prints,
the laughter over a cup of tea. Big things come once in a while, let not the little things slip past. That stuff is life, your life.
The good news is – You can! You don’t need me to make this happen. You simply need to take a moment, take a breath and be present.
This is not just abstract talk or theoretical discussion. A team of scientists from the University of British Columbia and Chemnitz University of Technology examined a number of studies on this subject and found that the practice of being present appeared to enhance specific brain regions related to perceptivity, pain tolerance, emotional resilience, complex thinking and self-awareness.
How do you start to be present? Is it being mindful? Read the article in full here and get the links to the references et al:

Hypnotherapists; That Hush FM DJ Voice & Some Strange Logic....
|
When I was growing up, the comedians Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse played a couple of caricature DJs called Smashy and Nicey on their very popular TV show. Towards the end of the careers of Smashy and Nicey, they got relegated to very late night radio show and instead of their usual speed and enthusiasm in their delivery when broadcasting their radio show, they were whispering and deeper pitched and used that beautiful
line…. “A big hello to all you truckers out there…”
It is the same sort of tonality that many hypnotherapists talk with when they are doing hypnosis with patients and clients for some strange reason.
I cringe at people with those type of affected voices used for inducing hypnosis and in this video I offer up some advice on the best way to actually use your voice when hypnotising, enjoy it here….
In this video I offer up the kind of logic that many hypnotherapists seem to have about CBT not working. I also offer up some of the reasons I believe that perhaps NHS based CBT practitioners and psychologists may not always get the results we’d expect or want – with some astonishing (and terrifying?!) research being cited by me. Tune in and let me know what you think here….
Video: “My clients tell me that CBT doesn’t work… Therefore it doesn’t…”

2. Interested in learning self-hypnosis? Want to get proof of your own self-hypnosis skills and create hypnotic phenomena by yourself, for yourself? Don’t know where to start?
Here’s your answer….
I get asked so often by so many people about the best way to learn self-hypnosis and to get some kind of evidence that they are doing it correctly. I usually reply to say that the single best way to know you are doing self-hypnosis correctly is to give yourself real-life evidence – by creating hypnotic phenomena.
What do I mean by “hypnotic Phenomena”?
This is our effect. The effect that we are going to create. With stage hypnotists, they create effects of people believing they are someone else, for example. With hypnotherapists they create effects of being free of habits, for example. With street hypnotists, they create the effect of someone believing their foot is stuck to the floor, for example. Within this self-hypnosis online educational programme, you are going to create effects that are going to be undeniably convincing to you that
you are using self-hypnosis well.
I have just put together a full blown science of self-hypnosis online educational programme that I think is unrivalled in the world today.
The programme contains many hours of video footage of me teaching self-hypnosis, plus a great many additional resources to help ensure you become an effective self-hypnotist and a teacher of self-hypnosis to others.
It combines the very latest evidence base and science including my own published research findings. You'll be on the cutting edge of self-hypnosis skills and knowledge with this programme.
It is new and I have just released it today, and therefore, the entire programme is yours for less than £100.00.
Come and read this page to learn more about it and and dive in to the ultimate self-hypnosis educational programme:
Science of Self-Hypnosis Educational Programme From Adam Eason
I think you'll love it and hope it helps you have a wonderful festive season and new year ahead.
Go read all about this, you are going to have a lot of fun with it, believe me. Enjoy engaging with self-hypnosis, most importantly, enjoy creating real-life undeniable hypnotic phenomena for yourself – it's going to blow your mind.
3. Are You Interested in Learning How to Conduct Rapid Inductions and Create Hypnotic Phenomena in others?
Then I have something very cool indeed for you.
I am delighted to invite you to a Rapid Inductions and hypnotic phenomena online training programme that is an evidence-based, fun filled education programme aimed at and created for hypnotherapists and students of hypnosis, looking to advance their range and fluency at inducing hypnosis rapidly and creating hypnotic phenomena in a professional manner.
This is an online programme based upon the last two decades of teaching rapid inductions and hypnotic phenomena. I have toured the world teaching this seminar.
Imagine the scene…. You’re trained and qualified and are working with a client in your lovely fancy therapy room, the lights are dimmed, the chair is fully reclined, your client has a lovely crochet blanket draped across them, you pop on the whale music and yes, it’s time to affect your best “Hush FM DJ” voice, a sort of whispering-Barry-White-on-dope type of impression, and you punctuate every sentence of your lengthy scenic
descriptive deepened with those immortal words “deeper and deeper”…… The client starts to softly snore, completely unaware any longer that they are supposed to be in a hypnotherapy session, to the point where you could be saying anything at all to them….
You emerge them at the end of the session, they rub their eyes the same way they would if they had just had a short nap (ironic?) and they utter those words that no hypnotherapist ever wants to hear and never should hear….
“…. it was a nice experience, but I am not sure I was really hypnotised”
or
“it was very relaxing, but I am not convinced I was in hypnosis.”
Maybe you have heard it said by other hypnotherapist’s clients? I hear this a great deal from clients that went to see other hypnotherapists before coming to see me. Surely this is a problem if you are a hypnotherapist, no?
Following this rapid inductions and hypnotic phenomena training programme (less than £100.00 investment too), your clients will never utter these words.
They will leave your office undeniably convinced that they were hypnotised. They’ll explain to friends, family and colleagues how impressive their experience was, and your reputation, referred business levels and credibility will all rise together.
Let’s dispense with the reclining chair.
Let’s dispense with the crochet blanket.
Let’s dispense with the whale music.
Let’s dispense with the affected Hush FM DJ impressions.
Let’s dispense with repeatedly saying “deeper and deeper” in monotone.
Let’s dispense with the clichéd, outdated caricature of how hypnotherapists behave, and let’s get skilled up!
Quality hypnosis that creates wonderful responsiveness needs none of these above things.
This training programme shows you how to induce hypnosis in a wide number of effective ways, and how to elicit a wide range of hypnotic phenomena and effects that will blow the minds of your clients in your hypnotherapy consulting rooms – it will add kudos, credibility and stimulation to every session you ever conduct with your clients - and the entire programme with it's hours of tuition is less than £100.00.
If you have ever heard your clients directly or indirectly say about their session with you that “it was a nice experience, but I am not sure I was really hypnotised” or “it was very relaxing, but I am not convinced I was in hypnosis” then this programme is going to change that.
Clients will leave your office undeniably convinced that they were hypnotised. They’ll explain to friends, family and colleagues how impressive their experience was, and your reputation, referred business levels and credibility will all rise together. Learn more about it here....

This Week's Main Article:
How to Live with Integrity.
|
Living life with integrity is my topic today.
“No amount of ability is of the slightest avail without honour.” – Andrew Carnegie.
According to the Collins Dictionary online, “if you have integrity, you are honest and firm in your moral principles.”
Personal integrity is an inborn moral conviction to do what is right, and reject that which is wrong, regardless of the consequences that are attached to their decisions.
Integrity comes in many forms, but the most important traits that are expected are dependability, honesty, loyalty and good judgement.
As an individual, having integrity means:
That your actions are consistent with your words;
That you are trustworthy, reliable and honest;
That you communicate honestly and openly;
That you have appropriate values, and behaviours that reflect these values; and
That you can admit mistakes and not be afraid to show you care.
The Three Forms of Integrity:
According to Dan Coughlin, keynote speaker, management consultant and executive coach, there are three types of integrity:
Internal integrity – This is your integrity at the deepest level. Is your integrity just for show because it looks good, or do you truly live your life with integrity in mind? Internal integrity is about being able to do the right thing, even if no one is looking and even if you will receive absolutely no credit for doing so. Doing the right thing, even though it may be the harder option, even when no one else
is looking, will really be a huge step towards ensuring that you live with integrity.
External integrity – This is what you portray to those around you. You have high external integrity when your actions are consistent with your thoughts and what you are saying. If you are saying one thing, but your actions say something else – you have some more work to do!
Image integrity – Similar to external integrity – this is the image of your integrity. Whilst you might outwardly be displaying the right actions and taking the right path, can these actions be thought of in any other way? Are you leaving your image open to interpretation? People have great imaginations. When we don’t understand something, we are very quick to make assumptions and form beliefs about why something is occurring. Looking after your image integrity is about ensuring
that none of your actions or words can be misconstrued.
Why is Integrity Important?
“The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionable integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in the office.” – Dwight D Eisenhower.
Primarily, integrity in our everyday life is so important that these traits leave an impact on our society. One where there is good communication, good understanding of each and a strong moral compass guiding all actions. Whereas, irresponsible behaviour and distrust can make the environment uncomfortable and tense.
If you are known for your integrity, you will gain trust and respect from the people around you. The studies from Dr. Gottman’s research show that integrity is the true source of deep love, adventure, and even self-confidence.
In today’s changing and highly competitive world living ethically and with integrity is just as important as it ever was. Integrity is not just important on a personal level, it is also vitally important at a professional level. In a survey of over 100,000 people, researcher Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner found that the most valued leadership quality is by far honesty (89%). Behaving with integrity has so many benefits especially
in professional life, it improves trust and develops long term relationships.
Let's be realistic, living with integrity is not easy, the reality in life is that we are faced constantly with the “integrity” question, that is why it is so important that we are consistent in our approach. For example, is it acceptable be less than honest on a specific matter under certain circumstances? There are no clear answers and personal governance can only cover the eventuality. As a result, no matter what choice
we make, we can convince ourselves that it was made with integrity.
