Edition #629
Hello and welcome to this week's edition of Adam Up

We are into the 2nd week of the new year and I have been so busy that it feels like 2018 is much older already!

I've got a heck of a lot of very cool stuff to share with you this week, so I think I'll just crack right on with.....

Hypnosis Weekly

The latest edition of the podcast has gone live.

I welcome the phenomenon that is Alberto Dell'isola to the show this week. I call him that because his You Tube channel has over 300,00 subscribers, his classes are always fit to bursting and he is about to run the largest hypnosis convention in the world in his home nation of Brazil in the coming week! He loves hypnosis yet admits the only other thing he loves taling about more, is social media... and boy does he know how to talk about that subject. In the second half of this episode, in 25 minutes of recording the segment, I ask two questions and don't get to speak again - Alberto give s and gives and there is a lot of value in this edition. I think you'll enjoy it. Go and have a listen of that episode here:

YouTube Mania

It is no coincidence that after speaking to Alberto, both when recoridng and when off-air together, I decided to revamp my own entire YouTube channel. Those of you that follow my Twitter and Facebook pages will have seen the new Hypnosis Geek logos and yes, the YouTube channel is now the Adam Eason Hypnosis Geek channel (big thanks to Tom Watson of TMW Media for creating the logo and putting up with my demands in the process, get in touch with him for any and all web services; I get no commission, I like to refer excellence).

On the channel, I am going to be positing loads of archive footage from our vaults, and discussing, debating and demonstrating much while focusing on hypnosis, self-hypnosis and hypnotherapy. I have had to delete a bunch of stuff from the channel, so it has had a bit of a Spring clean, and I have also added a new (rather hastily this week) channel intro trailer to explain what it is about being a hypnosis geek that I value so much and that also sets the tone for what is coming on the channel. Do go have a look and let me know what you think to the new look:

Underlying Principles of Effective Hypnotic Inductions

I recorded a new video snippet this week, I think it is 8 minutes well invested if you are a hypnosis professional.....

Here at the college, I often talk about and teach that you make a hypnosis induction process soooo much easier and more effective when you yourself (as hypnotist) adopt a very particular mindset and adopt some very simple (some might think rudimentary) underlying principles. I have found that when we do so, the induction process is smoother, easier and much more effective. The hypnotist or hypnotherapist is perceived with credibility and is trusted as a result.

These particular principles sit in well with the way I personally tend to favour explaining hypnosis too.

In general, and put simply, when these principles are present and engaged with as an inherent part of the hypnotic induction, it will be enriched and better as a result.

In this video, I explain these principles. I have abbreviated them and run through it much quicker and much briefer than I would in class and not really referred to the evidence to support these theories, but I hope you find it stimulating and useful. I hope you like the model too – I am rather attached to it, as you’ll see….

Key Underlying Principles of a Really Effective Hypnotic Induction

Onto today's main theme...
Making Yourself Indispensable

How to be indispensable? As a title to an article, it sounds rather grand, but I’m writing on this subject for a very particular reason: We are now in the second week of the new year and I have had to stop taking new one-to-one clients as I am fully booked now until the end of March. I’m unable to take on any more coaching, mentoring or hypnotherapy clients for a while. One lady emailed me and I explained the situation to her and sent her on the details of a couple of other hypnotherapists, who I rate highly and who I knew would do a great job. She then rang me and asked me if I could find the time somehow, she was really looking for a situation. I explained in detail – she rang me and emailed me again. In the end, she said “I only want to work with you Adam.” There is nothing else for me to add to this – any service she received would be a compromise from anyone else. In her mind, I was indispensable.

Once my ego had deflated slightly, I explored this. There are a number of reasons for how that mindset developed within her, and that is what today’s article is all about. Being perceived as indispensable is great for a business such as mine where I actively seek students, clients in a market place where there is a lot of competition. Likewise, for anyone else, being perceived as indispensable in your job, your relationships, in teams and so on, can really advance a number of aspects of life.

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”- Howard Thurman

If you want to move your career forward or another area of your life and are seeking a change or advancement then you might like to establish yourself as indispensable. Not in a way whereby you’ll never be able to progress or do anything else, but in a way where you are recognised as being incredibly valuable.

In other words, aiming to make yourself the sort of person who can be relied on, performs consistently, offers great value and much more besides. Of course, much of this relates to the work-place or your career, but it can be related to a much wider range of areas in life – memberships, team roles, in groups, in friendships, inter-personal relationships, as a role-model, mentor and in many other roles.

Here are some of the things you can do to make yourself indispensable, go read the full article here:

The Hypnosis Geek On Tour!
This year, I am going to be teaching in a wide number of places and venues. If you have ever wanted to train with me, but found it difficult to travel, then I think I have most of the UK covered this year. Firstly, here is where I'm going to be teaching in the UK:

Hull - July 27th & 28th.
Norwich - September 28th & 29th.
Cardiff - October 26th & 27th.
London - November 1st.
Birmingham - November 23rd & 24th.

Then this March I'll be in Scandinavia - I'll be presenting at the Icelandic Hypnotherapy Conference on the evening of the 4th of March and teaching a full day on the 5th in R
eykjavik.

On the 17th of March, I'll be on the Isle of Fyn in Denmark for the NGH conference, presenting a full day seminar and I'll be at the event for the banquet and then hanging out in Copenhagen a bit here and there too.

I'll have full details of all these events and booking details next week, and further details of trainings I'll be delivering in Adelaide, Australia, and in the US towards the end of the year.

All this on top of my usual training schedule here in the eternally sunny Bournemouth.

If you cannot make any of those venues and would still like to train with me, or study with me, then as I;ve mentioned here in recent weeks,
we have set things up on our online membership area, so that anyone can go and have 5 days completely free access to everything.

That’s right, you can now go and watch video footage of
  • our hypnotherapy practitioner diploma course,
  • our advanced hypnotherapy practitioner diploma course,
  • our cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy certificate,
  • our hypnotic coaching certification course,
  • our hypnotherapist business development academy course,
  • our science of self-hypnosis seminar,
  • our rapid inductions and hypnotic phenomena for hypnotherapists seminar,
  • our specialist lectures and additional materials galore – all for free!

Go and have a read of this article at the college website for more detail and information on this offer:

In that article, I listed a number (ten, to be precise) articles that I have written in the last decade that I believe to be incredibly important. They give a sense of the vision I have for the field of professional hypnotherapy and they offer up a huge amount of resource for anyone interested in this field whether new to the field, or those of you that are seasoned professionals.

If you want to get a good feel for this college and our ethos and what we stand for, then have a read of these articles. They demonstrate so much of what we believe is important for the hypnotherapy field to develop credibly and effectively.

If you are a hypnotherapist, then I highly recommend the investment of 10 minutes of your time to read these articles, they are ram-packed full of useful information even if you do not choose to study with me, they’ll benefit you greatly:

Social Media
This week, my social media output has been filled with memes about hypnosis, photos and loads of articles from our vaults (including some really controversial ones from the past few years!!) and some other bits and pieces. In particular, I have reposted some really good articles on the subject of criticism, have a read:

a)
How to Effectively Deal With Criticism.

b) Why Prominent Hypnotherapists and Hypnotherapy Training Schools Need To Know How To Take Criticism.

Joke Of The Week
My favourite of the jokes I was sent this week!

1. 'I said to the Gym instructor "Can you teach me to do the splits?" He said, "How flexible are you?" I said, "I can't make Tuesdays"'
2. Another one was: Doc, I can't stop singing the 'Green Green Grass of Home'. He said: 'That sounds like Tom Jones syndrome'. 'Is it common?'I asked. 'It's not unusual' he replied.
3. Two aerials meet on a roof - fall in love - get married. The ceremony was rubbish - but the reception was brilliant.
4. Police arrested two kids yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, the other was eating fireworks. They charged one - and let the other one off.

Hahahaha, thank you to all who send me jokes or tag me in them online.
