- Hello and welcome to this week's edition of Adam Up I’ve had a little bit of a cold and flu bug this past week, and as I was teaching all weekend, my voice deteriorated and faded meaning that I decided not to record the Hypnosis Weekly podcast this week, but it will be back next week and I have a great episode in the can ready to share with you
all.
On that note, I have been using self-hypnosis to help with my symptoms, of course. If you’d like to learn how to do the same, here are some ways to help you:
You regular readers will know that I wrote a couple of weeks ago about my thoughts and feelings following the Manchester bombing resulting in the deaths of 22 people at an Ariana Grande concert, if you missed it, here is that
article - included in the article is a link to download a free hypnosis audio track for spreading love and kindness, go and grab it and use it for good:
Last weekend, there was another terrorist attack, this time in London, and so it made a lot of sense to me to no longer dwell too deeply, but instead write about bouncing back. Ariana Grande, at the
age of 23, returned to Manchester last weekend and gathered up music stars from around the world to join in tribute to those who lost their lives, and unite in love, kindness and really generated a sense of human spirit that transcended terror and fear mongering. In that same spirit, I felt my own small offering is one to show people who have had any kind of knock-down in life, how to practically apply themselves, use their minds to get back up, learn from the experience and become stronger,
wiser and better as a result, have a read here:
I mentioned it last week here and on my blog, my long-term business partner Keith and I are going our separate ways. As a result, I am going to be focusing more on certain areas of my business - firstly, spending more time working
with hypnotherapy clients.
It has always been my love and I am keen to be working as a hypnotherapist, coach and mentor a little bit more than I have done in recent years. However, I shall only be working with people who are directly referred or recommended to me. If you or anyone you know thinks you would benefit
from hypnotherapy sessions with me, or mentoring your hypnotherapy business with me, or coaching in some area of life with me, via Skype or face to face, then get in touch.
Just for the next few weeks while I fill my diary, I am offering a very healthy discount off my usual fees to any of you or those you refer.
Get in touch for more details. In fact, I have written in more detail about this on my blog, have a read:
Likewise, have a read of these articles about
the coaching process and about working with me as a coach to help you achieve more in your life:
Announcements And Reminders |
Finally this week, I have a couple of announcements and reminders:
1.
Professor Irving Kirsch is coming to Bournemouth
I will be spending some time with him one-to-one to talk about my research, and he is also going to be lecturing while here. If any of you would like to attend, there are a few spaces (quite a few already taken as I have mentioned this to our graduates first) for the following lecture:
Wonderful Word of Placebo Wednesday 21st of June 2017 -- 18:30
Allesbrook Lecture Theatre, Bournemouth
University.
The Lecture:
There is not just one placebo effect; there are many placebo effects. Placebo effects can be powerful
or powerless depending on the color, dose, strength of the active treatment, branding, price, mode of administration, and the condition being treated. Psychological mechanisms underlying the placebo effect include Pavlovian conditioning, expectancy, and the therapeutic relationship. Because the placebo effect is a component of the response to active treatment, these mechanisms can be used to enhance treatment outcome. Also, contrary to received wisdom, placebo treatment can produce meaningful
effects even when placebos are given openly without deception.
This is free for you to attend if you’d like to join me and a bunch of colleagues and graduates from my college. If you say you are coming, it is really important to attend as the spaces are limited. This is a rare opportunity to meet and see live the most prolific researcher in the hypnosis field and head of Placebo studies at
Harvard University in the US - and he’s going to be in Bournemouth!
3. Get Listed On Our Website
If you are a graduate of my college and would like your hypnotherapy practice listed on the college website, we are about to set up a directory page listing any of you that would like to.
Hopefully it will help you get new clients and it will show those who appreciate the college’s reputation who some of our professional hypnotherapists are. Just let me have your name, website address, contact telephone number and location, and I’ll add the listing on our popular college website very soon. This week, my social media output has been filled with memes about hypnosis, some photos of our puppy who is growing up and is the cutest thing on the
planet in my biased opinion and also some video footage of me squatting some heavy weight at the gym! You can follow and keep up to date here:
Additionally, if you are a student, graduate or friend of my college, then come & join
our Facebook group for hypnotherapists, it has some wonderful discussion on there:

In place of our usual joke of the week slot, in keeping with our main theme this week, I wanted to offer up
some famous and inspiring quotes about resilience and bouncing back….
1. “Difficulties break some men, but make others.” - Nelson Mandela.
2. “A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at them.” - David Brinkley.
3. “Resilience is knowing that you are the only one that has the power and the responsibility to pick yourself up.” - Mary
Holloway.
4. “Resilient people immediately look at the problem and say, 'What's the solution to that? What is this trying to teach me?’” - Anon.
5. “Life is not about how fast you run or how high you climb but how well you bounce.” - Vivian Komori. |
