Hello  , Welcome To This Week's Adam Up

I shall be teaching my self-hypnosis seminar tomorrow and then this weekend will be the final module of my current 10 month diploma, which is the end of the academic year for my school and I do not teach again until mid-September.

We have a party to celebrate and I then get to spend Summer readying the school for the new academic year and getting other projects started and completed, but I also get to relax somewhere along the line.

With my children being so young, we'll not be going overseas on holiday, this year we'll be spending a lot of time at our beach hut near to where we live. These last few weeks we have had such lovely weather, that it feels like we are overseas. I have a stand-up paddle board and take my son out on it and he sits at the front admiring the view of the bay, my daughter builds sandcastles and we eat ice creams, swim in the sea and get rosy cheeks.

Of course, when you plan on hitting the beach when the weather is hot, you want to be able to dress accordingly and that often means shirts off for me and bikinis for women. Many of us aspire to feel comfortable and assured of ourselves when we do so, and that is what this edition of Adam Up is all about - ways of using self-hypnosis to help you get that beach body.

The research that supports the use of hypnotherapy for weight reduction is sparse at best. The results have generally been quite positive, though not incredible, and of the two systematic literature reviews I have read regarding this application of hypnosis, both suggested that hypnosis should aim to be more of an adjunct or to be used within a comprehensive programme, rather than as a primary treatment when it comes to weight reduction.

This means that you need to consider your diet and understand what is best for you and your body. With my own current marathon training for Berlin and Bournemouth marathons in subsequent weeks this Autumn, I supplement my intensive weekly running schedule with a couple of weights workouts each week, and though I eat a paleo-inspired diet and know a lot about it, the training, and the dietary stuff is not really my professional sphere of competence for me to offer professional advice on. That is stuff that you need to explore and investigate and then with your diet and activity plan in place, you also add the psychological element to help things run smoothly and advance the entire programme as much as possible.

That is what today is aimed at doing for you - offering you a range of techniques to help advance your comprehensive weight reduction programme and help you achieve that beach body.

Range Of Techniques To Help You Get That Beach Body

I find that when I start to increase my running training and fine tune my diet, I get cravings for sweet foods and carbs that do not serve me well.  As my body adjusts further into my training, it gets better, but many of my weight reduction clients experience similar cravings.

It is tough.

Curb Food Cravings

I use natural yoghurt, a handful of mixed seeds and nuts, beef jerky and protein bars as alternative snacks to satiate those cravings, but the mind can be a great assistance in dealing with this too.

Here is a full blown strategy to help you use self-hypnosis to overcome food cravings. Using self-hypnosis and a hot air balloon to overcome food cravings:

Body Shaping

People tend to have beliefs about their own body image and perhaps believe they have always been a certain size or shape and predict that is how they'll always be. Likewise, some people who just need to reduce their weight by a short amount, find that they cannot imagine themselves being the ideal snap and size. This next process then, is designed to help you shape the ideal, realistic body, and get it lodged into your mind so that your body, behaviour, attitude and appetite all start to respond accordingly. Outer space body shaping with self-hypnosis:

Motivation To Exercise

Many of us have great intentions, but find that perhaps we talk ourselves out of exercising, or we put it off until tomorroww.... WHen we have enough motivation to sweep aside those distractions, we tend to find we enjoy it when we are out there. So here is a technique to help you get motivated and driven to take action, specifically aimed at getting you exercising. Using self-hypnosis for enhanced motivation to exercise:

Eat More Artfully and Eat Less

One other downfall for those who sometimes struggle to really make weight reduction changes or achieve the ideal body they'd like for themselves, is that they love to eat. I know that I love to eat. I love to drink too. If you do love eating and find you just scoff, then having a technique and process that permits you to enjoy the food you eat without gorging or overdoing it is crucial to success. This process is going be so useful for you. Using self-hypnosis to eat artfully:

Take Control Of Your Appetite

Finally, I offer a technique that helps you to truly tune into and take control of your appetite. It is something that needs a bit of tuition with regards to how we respond to it sometimes. Understanding real hunger signals compared to eating for emotional need is vital for success.  Using self-hypnosis to take control of your appetite:

http://www.adam-eason.com/2011/11/15/using-self-hypnosis-to-take-control-of-your-appetite/

All the above techniques you can do for yourself and practice one strategy on a different day of the week as part of your comprehensive training programme. They'll make a great deal of difference when it comes to sticking to your programme and developing yourself in a speedy fashion with the Summer upon us now.

If however, you'd like to be guided through these techniques and take some of the onus off yourself, then you can buy all these sessions that I have recorded and we have put in a single bundly package for July Offer in our store.

We've called it the Beach Bundle.

Hypnosis Weekly Podcast - Coming Soon

In one weeks time I shall be launching a new podcast.

Hypnosis weekly is going to be a podcast featuring hot debates, interviews, news and facts to satiate ultra hypnosis geeks and also those looking to learn more about this field of ours.

I have some major names involving themselves with this and I'll announce more details very soon. It has taken a lot of my time to get it up and running, which is partly the reason I have been unable to be blogging in earnest this week.

More details next week...

But as a teaser, Norwegian based hypnotherapist and author of 'Provocative Hypnosis', Jørgen Rasmussen is going to be taking me to task over some of the central elements of the CBH model that I support and offering a critique of some of the points I made in a recent webinar with James Tripp - you won't want to miss this.

Joke Of The Week

Why is it dangerous to go in the jungle after 5 p.m?

Because elephants jump out of trees after 5 p.m.

Why do beavers have flat tails?

Because they go in the jungle after 5 p.m!

Hahahaha, thank you to everyone who sends in the jokes each week, I love getting them.

Articles Of The Week

Here are a selection of topical articles that I enjoyed reading this week, often related to the fields of hypnosis, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and other forms of personal development. Some may have just amused me or made me smile. My personal comments about them are in brackets and just because we feature an article here, it does not mean they represent my own views - most often, they do not! If you ever come across any related articles that you think may feature well, then get in touch with me and we can share them here:

- Psychology Today covers hypnosis, I think it gets a few things wrong, but is an interesting article. How To Help Yourself Through Hypnosis

- The Daily Star Health Bulletin suggests, Hypnosis May Help Improve Deep Sleep

- A Salem News Story, Misconceptions About Hypnosis, is one of the better articles I have read with the aim of refuting myths

- Chatham County psychologist has knee replacement with hypnosis

- Robert Rosenberg has a stethoscope thrown over his shoulder, he must know what he's talking about, right? Here he writes, You Are Getting Very Sleepy: Can You Be Hypnotized Into Better Sleep?

- A local Australian newspaper has an interesting interview and article. Power of hypnotic healing

More next time.
