It has been an incredibly busy week and is about to get busier for me as run my rapid inductions and hypnotic phenomena seminar tomorrow and then I run my diploma course all weekend. 

Last night we had our quarterly hypnotherapist peer support group and welcomed 'The World's Fastest Hypnotist' Sean Michael Andrews who flew in from Germany to be here. 

We had a wonderful night and I got to speed plenty of time with Sean.

On in the background last night was the football. England were playing their penultimate friendly game before the World Cup starts. 

I wrote a slightly -tongue-in-cheek article this week about how I'd help England win the World Cup.
They have, after all, hired a sports psychiatrist, the same man that helped Ronnie O'Sullivan and the British cycling team to victory, so why not consider hiring a hypnotherapist?

Those that know me and know my work, know how much I value laughter, fun and humour. 

Earlier this week I wrote a blog article showing some of the things that really make me laugh, including my favourite ever stand-up comedy sketch, and some favourite clips from comedy shows I love.

Finally, this week, I also wrote about how healthy it is for you in real-life ways to stimulate your brain. I am not suggesting that everyone has to conduct a PhD, but that getting some sort of stimulus will lessen ageing and give you mental health rewards too, on a personal or professional level,

Each week, I am also going to feature an article 'from the vaults' so to speak. 

I have written a great many articles on a wide range of topics over the years and some of them get missed or are definitely worth revisiting. 

For any of you who are professional therapists, or those of you thinking of becoming a therapist in the future, a notion that is central to my school and the way I teach is embodied in the article I am highlighting today. 

Last night, in the bar after our speaker's presentation, I referred to this notion about how important I believe it is to understand a subject fully and then be able to draw upon a depth of understanding and knowledge in order to develop your own stance and leaning. 

I wrote this article back in 2010 and it is still so true with regards to how we run things at this school. 

Are hypnotherapists intelligent enough to see both sides?

Joke Of The Week

A man drinks a shot of whiskey every night before bed. After years of this, the wife wants him to quit; she gets two shot glasses, filling one with water and the other with whiskey.

After getting him to the table that had the glasses, she brings his bait box. She says "I want you to see this." She puts a worm in the water it, and it swims around.

She puts a worm in the whiskey, and the worm dies immediately. She then says, feeling that she has made her point clear, "what do you have to say about this experiment?"

He responds by saying: "If I drink whiskey, I won't get worms!"

Hahaha, lovely reframe there! I enjoyed that one. Thank you to everybody who continues to contribute to the jokes in the Hub and those who email me jokes every week. I love getting them.
