Hello Welcome To This Week's Adam Up

The weekend just gone was the start of our latest hypnotherapy practitioner diploma course and we are recording it all.

Those of you that are members of the Platinum area, there are many more hours of up-to-date footage for learning hypnotherapy, advancing your skills and developing your knowledge, so do go and have a look at the latest additions.

If you are not a Platinum Member, then do go and check out this information about it. It is now one of the most comprehensive and thorough online resources for hypnosis professionals, - it really is.

Secondly, I have just finished recording the final and concluding parts of my latest "Science of Self-Hypnosis" audio programme - for all those of you who have previously purchased this audio programme, you will be getting the update automatically in the next week or two and for those of you who do not own this material, I think it is my finest work to date and you'll love it.

On to today's Adam Up and keeping with our theme of running this month...

As of next Monday, following my recent marathons, my training schedule starts as I aim for a Spring 2014 marathon personal best time... I shall be sharing my progress and getting my Hypnosis for Running blog kicking off in earnest once again as of then. I'll be charting my progress, talking about my psychological training, physical development and there'll be much more besides as we crack on as of next week.

Today though, I thought I'd share with you a lovely and rather novel process. It is based upon an NLP (neuro linguistic programming) technique that I have seen used and published by a variety of authors in that field.

There are times when we all tend to fall in and out of love of running. I go through highs and lows and my motivation wains from time to time.

Getting motoring is a lot easier when I am in love with running.

I tend to fall in love with running just before and after big events, when I have bought running gear, when the latest edition of Runners World falls through the letterbox and when I talk to my brother about our schedules each week. However, there are various other means to have a love for running that don't require the external stimulus that I mentioned in this paragraph. I wanted to share one such process with you today - all aimed at having you fall in love with running. It'll certainly help all of us with our training as we start our schedules for the New Year, whether they are for planned races or just weight reduction or enhanced fitness. Let me show you how...

7 Steps To Fall In Love With Running

Make sure you are in a place where you'll be undisturbed for the duration of this session. Ensuring you are in a comfortable, seated, receptive posture and position yourself with your feet flat on the floor with your arms and legs not touching each other, then begin.

Step One:

Before we start with the self-hypnosis process, create a list of the feelings you'd like to have about and towards running. You can write them down and have a written list (which I advise) or you can create a list in your mind as preparation for this exercise.

Your relationship with running may have waivered in a variety of ways over the years, or even if you are just starting out running, so being aware of how you wish to feel towards running is going help you in the process of actually having that sort of regard towards it. Plus, having a vivid idea of the feelings you want to have beforehand is going to ensure that you enhance the relationship with running and help those feelings be ignited later on in this process.

Once you have a good comprehensive list drawn up, pick the 4 or 5 top things from it in order of preference and jot down an occasion when you felt that way before. Just briefly remind yourself of those occasions and have an idea of them in your mind. With the list of occasions besides your top 4 or 5 ways that you wish to feel towards running (love, affection, inspiration, motivation, excitement, enjoyment, fun, healthiness etc)  then proceed on to step two.

Step Two: Induce Hypnosis:

You can do so by any means you desire or know of. You can use the process in my self-hypnosis book, use the free audio at this website to practice or have a look at the following articles as and when you need them; they are basic processes to help you simply open the door of your mind:

Heavy Arm Self-Hypnosis Induction Method:

Using eye fixation for self-hypnosis:

The Betty Erickson Self-Hypnosis Method video clip:

Using Magnetic Hands for Self-Hypnosis:

Hand to Face Self-Hypnosis Induction:

The Coin Drop Self-Hypnosis Induction:

Once you have induced hypnosis, move on to step two.

running, colour

Step Three:

With hypnosis induced, now run through your top 4 or 5 feelings in the following way whilst associating them with running:

Remind yourself of one of your listed feelings that you wish to have, then recall the occasion you felt it before; make sure you imagine seeing the sights, hearing the sounds and feeling that feeling as vividly as you possibly can.

Generate some of that feeling and then spend a couple of minutes growing it and magnifying it and enhancing it. You might imagine it as a colour that you spread in your body and mind, it might be a sensation that you develop further, or even a sound that resonates within you. Really develop and build that feeling within you, then move on to the next step when you can feel it vividly.

Step Four:

Once you can feel plenty of that feeling, think about going running whilst keeping that feeling. Imagine a future run you are going to go on whilst feeling that sensational state within you and associate that feeling with running. Get the great feeling intertwined unmistakably with the experience of running

Once you feel that you have merged the feeling with running, then move on to the next step.

Step Five:

Repeat steps three and four with the other feelings and occasions you previously listed until you have done this with all the feelings you wish to have towards running.

Make sure you take all the time necessary and do this thoroughly and diligently, you'll benefit greatly from doing so. Each time you do this, imagine developing a strong bond, a wonderful relationship with running. Remind yourself of how much good it is doing you and how much your love for running is building and get excited about running.

Really develop these states and enjoy feeling them and associating them with running and once you have gone through the list, move on to the next step.

Step Six:

Once you have developed these feelings for of the feelings you wish to have towards running, then imagine going out on a run (final time for this exercise) and combining all those wonderful feelings. Imagine them merging and associating wonderfully with your run. See the sights of the places you run in, hear the sounds and really imagine being on your run whilst feeling this way towards your run. As you do that, think the words "I love running" to yourself.

Say the words in a way that is undeniably convincing to you that you love running. Say it with vigour and meaning and in a way that you feel like you truly believe it.

Then you can use those words to stimulate these feelings when you plan to go running and throughout your runs. Heck, at the end of a great run, say the words to yourself to anchor those great post-run feelings to the words so you can use them to get your relationship with running developed and built massively.

Step Seven:

Once you have done the previous steps, then wiggle your toes and fingers, take a couple of deep, energizing breaths and open your eyes to bring this part of the session to an end.

Test and practice using the words in your mind and really fall in love with running. You see, when you love it, you'll be more inclined to do it.

There you have it, lets round this year off truly falling in love with running so that we have a wonderful foundation to build upon and so that we are not in any way finding the running season ahead any kind of a chore.

Articles Of The Week

Here are a selection of topical articles that I enjoyed reading this week, often related to the fields of hypnosis, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and other forms of personal development. Some may have just amused me or made me smile. If you ever come across any related articles that you think may feature well, then get in touch with me and we can share them here:

England's mental health services 'in crisis':

UF faculty finds some mind-body therapies may reduce effects of functional bowel disorders:

Hypnosis: Is everyone susceptible?

Getting criminals to talk through forensic hypnosis:

Ke$ha visits past lives under hypnosis:

Adam's additional commentary:

I want to comment on a couple of these articles - firstly to write that people go 'under' hypnosis, using a pejorative term is inaccurate. Hypnosis is a verb, something someone does, not a state they go 'under' like being chemically anaesthetised.

Secondly, evidence has shown that much of what is written in the 'forensic hypnosis' article is absolute nonsense. I like to show what the media is writing about this field each week, these articles do not represent the views of me or my school - because they really don't :-)

More next week.

Joke of the week:

Why did the man smear peanut butter on the road?

To go with the traffic jam!

Hahahahaha... That one really tickled me this week.

Thanks to everyone who continues to send me in jokes each week, I love getting them!

PLEASE NOTE - The many hours of video recorded at the Cognitive Behaviour Hypnotherapy Course recently run in Bournemouth has been added to the Platinum area.

We recently added footage from a seminar ran in April this year:  My own presentation about how to use hypnotherapy with children and the presentation from Jill Harrington relating to counselling skills for hypnotherapists will be available by this weekend.

THIS WEEK'S TESTIMONIAL
Karen Brown
Testimonial

Karen Brown, Hypnotherapist/NLP Practitioner/Counsellor, Dorset, UK

"Adam Eason is more than a master practitioner of Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy and NLP, he is an Oracle. If you are prepared to develop a firm interest in this field, or even for your own personal advancement in life, then Adam's courses are not one to miss! He enthuses each month with a plethora of learning, practical exercises and skills and you also get the opportunity to watch a master of his trade at 'work'.

After each month, you receive a manual that is just jam packed full of personal development, just waiting for you to read and learn. After ten months you subsequently end up with a 'Bible' of well over a thousand pages of Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy and NLP techniques to add to your personal tool kit. If you want to get the most out of your journey with Adam, it's well worth the time to study and read.

For those wishing for an easy course with the odd bit of reading and practicals, then politely I'd like to say, perhaps you should look elsewhere? For those who want to work with the best and be the best you can be, then Adam's course could be for you. Imagine taking a journey of self-discovery that provides you with many learnings and skills beyond the comprehensible and has the possibility of changing your life... what would that be like for you? Well that's what I received from Adam's 2008-2009 Diploma in Hypnotherapy and NLP Practitioner Training and I am absolutely delighted I did!"
