- Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Adam Up
If you follow me on social media, you'll have seen that I posted a picture of me walking at the beach in the sunshine today, do I dare say that I feel like Spring has arrived?!
There have been a couple of bits and pieces I've shared online since I last sent an edition of Adam Up out though less articles and videos than usual....I've shared videos on thge topic of regression and memory and trauma today,
and included a new article about finding your sweet spot in life along with a couple of others.
I have done my best not to use this irregular ezine broadcast to plug what I do too much and use it for sharing free resources, article and videos that I think benefit people in a range of ways, however today I am also sharing with you a programme that I have spent a lot of time and effort on creating that has just launched. You can read all about the hypnotic body mastery programme in
this edition today.
Wherever you are in the world, I hope you are healthy and happy and that 2025 has been good to you so far.
=== And just as a reminder, you are receiving this email because you signed up for this ezine, downloaded a course prospectus or attended a course at some point in time. If you no longer wish to receive this periodical hypnosis and personal development ezine, you may unsubscribe by clicking the link at the foot of
this email. I only want you to receive it each time if you find it of value and you actually read it. Also, we delete you from our distribution if you have not opened these emails for a while. It is not primarily aimed to try and sell you anything, it is aimed at updating you on my own output, and give you a good understanding of the ethos that underpins my college and my work. In compliance with GDPR, the only information that we hold is your name and email address. We
will not share these details with anyone and we will only use them to send you this and related, relevant broadcasts. This broadcast is only sent to people who have signed up with our double opt-in system. Ok, let's get on with it, shall we?
The Hypnotic Body Mastery Programme: Registration Is Now Open...
|
I am delighted to finally announce the start date of my Hypnotic Body Mastery programme. The aim of this programme is to teach and encourage you to adopt and apply some scientific principles and psychological skills and deliver some messages reinforced and delivered with hypnosis so that you can affect your own image of yourself, adopt the right kind of discipline and motivation, believe in yourself, alter
your perception of effort, raise energy levels, increase consistency, and feel in control of your appetite while also enjoying your life and not feeling deprived. It aims to help you feel really good in your own skin.
This is not a weight loss programme, it aims to be more than that. If your aim is to reduce weight or reduce body fat, then it will help you, but if you wish to gain weight or be more contoured, it’ll help you with that too. Many of us settle as we get older and
submit to many of the effects that modern living can have upon us in a range of ways.
This programme aims to offer an antidote presented in a supportive environment.
We'll set personal goals and realistic desired outcomes in accordance with solid scientific principles, we'll work out the measurements you want to change with your physique, we'll calculate your requirements early on so that we can monitor progress and tailor the programme in accordance as we proceed.
We will then have numerous focuses on activity levels and requirements, your approach to eating and nutrition, adopting habits, psychological requirements, emotional control, perception of identity, your personal beliefs and all the while we'll continue measuring progress.
I will offer hypnosis experiences in every session to support and advance the psychological processes we'll work on. There will be prescribed behavioural tasks to engage in and psychological
skills to apply outside of sessions and import into your life. The programme will require commitment, and though I'll do all I can to help drive your motivation - you'll be required to have a certain level of healthy self-motivation.

Articles & Videos: What's New? A wide range of new articles to help in varying aspects of life here today...

New videos:
1. One of the things I've been keen to impress to students of my college is to be neuroscience-informed where possible, especially when dealing with trauma and especially if you are going to consider using regression techniques to revisit past memories and experiences. I've written and recorded videos
previously about the capacity to re-traumatise if you are simply asking a client to re-live a memory - when we do so, it recreates the conditions of the trauma in the subcortical regions of the brain. However, if you introduce acceptance, awareness and mindfulness within the recollection, you integrate the upper regions of the brain and get the opportunity to recode the memory, recondition the response to it and start to respond to it differently. So integrating self-awareness
in trauma therapy can prevent retraumatisation. Some consider it an essential strategy to help individuals observe their experiences mindfully, ensuring effective healing without the risks. There is more discussion to this of course, it is a deeper topic, but it is a point that needs to be impressed I believe. Watch video clip here: Transforming Trauma: A Mindful Approach to Healing. 2. A couple of key points that I make in this brief clip… - Memory is complex and reconstructive. When retrieving memories for regressive purposes using hypnosis, more material tends to come up and present itself in awareness. - When things come up during hypnosis,
people tend to find them more believable. - Hypnosis does not guarantee veracity, and that which does come up could be incorrect or out of perspective in some way, but if more is coming up and it is more believable, we potentially increase the chances of fall memory (the biggest litigation cases in psychiatric history were related to male memory issues). - If we are going to use regression approaches, we need to ensure the client understands that what comes up is their perception and not
necessarily absolute truth. We need to understand and be aware of how hypnosis affects our memories and the potential for false recall. Understanding perceptions versus actual events is crucial for safe, ethical hypnotherapy. Watch video clip here: Understanding Memory and Hypnosis
New Articles:
All articles are founded in science and have references for you to explore should you wish: 1. How
do you find your sweet spot? Often, when I start a hypnosis session with a student or client, I ask them to position themselves in such a way that the crown of their head is pointing up towards the ceiling and that their head is in a position whereby it will not droop forward or fall backwards, it is just balanced in that sweet spot of comfort for the session ahead.
I can remember watching village cricket games with my Granddad who used to umpire when I was a boy and
watching an opening batsman hit a long drive straight back past the bowler for a six. Chatting about it after the game, my Granddad spoke of the ball being struck in the sweet spot of the bat which made a great sound and was the place where the most effective contact was made.
Today, I’m writing about how you can find your sweet pot. In the often demanding pace of modern living, many of us can feel overwhelmed, lost, or unfulfilled. The quest for happiness and balance can appear elusive;
maybe it even leads to stress and mental strain. However, one way to a happier, more content existence can lie in identifying and nurturing your “sweet spot” in life? Here today, I’m exploring what it means to find your sweet spot and am offering up some scientifically-backed strategies that can help you achieve a more balanced and fulfilling life. Read full article here: How to Find Your Sweet Spot in Life. 2. How can we find the courage to change? Making significant changes in life can feel daunting, even when we know such changes are necessary for growth, happiness, or well-being. Fear of the unknown, attachment to familiar routines, or anxiety about failure can hold us back. Yet, being able to find the courage to change is not only
possible but can also be transformative. Courage is not the absence of fear but the willingness to act despite it. In this article, I’m exploring and sharing psychological strategies supported by science that can help anyone find the courage to make life-changing decisions, along with the benefits of embracing such bravery.
Courage has been defined as the mental or moral strength to persevere and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. Psychologists often view courage as a complex
construct involving emotional regulation, resilience, and a commitment to personal values (Rate et al., 2007). Courage isn’t a fixed trait; it’s a skill that can be developed.
Dr Brené Brown, a leading researcher on courage and vulnerability, states: “Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.” Her work highlights that courage requires vulnerability, self-awareness, and a willingness to face discomfort — all essential for meaningful change and helping us to find
the courage to change. Read full article here: How to Find the Courage to Make Big Changes in Your Life 3. Somatic therapy exercises are emerging as a powerful, science-backed approach to improving mental well-being. During a recent series of online presentations I gave in my
Hypnotherapist Development Hub, I spoke about times when talk therapy can feel redundant and there can be a need for the likes of somatic therapy exercises to help heal and recondition accordingly. These exercises, grounded in the principles of somatic therapy, use body-based techniques to regulate the nervous system, process trauma, and enhance emotional resilience. By incorporating these methods into daily life, individuals can experience profound improvements in their
mental health.
In this article, we will explore the concept of somatic therapy, its psychological and emotional benefits, and a variety of exercises that can be easily integrated into everyday routines by anyone. Each of these exercises is supported by research, ensuring they offer effective strategies for mental well-being. Read full article here: Improve Mental Health with Somatic Therapy Exercises

The Hypnotherapist Development Hub:
I have just shared the dates for the next 6 months for our regular group supervision sessions I host in our hypnotherapist development hub - our members can join as a supervisee or as an observer (which many find
incredibly useful and insightful) and which all counts as official supervision with me as your supervisor, duly approved by your hypnotherapy professional organisation.
We also run monthly practice sessions for members and all of our graduates and current students have access to these sessions whereby all present get to connect with like-minded people from all over the world and practice skills, approaches and get feedback as they seek to develop, stay sharp or just get practice in
that some struggle to find sometimes.
Additionally, all recordings of my 4-part Trauma for Hypnotherapists series that was recorded in recent weeks are now live, plus the first part has an additional supplementary session that advances on the effects of trauma on the major brain networks that is introduced in that first session. These sessions aim to advance and compliment the way you work with clients who have experience trauma, help you understand what is happening in the brain
and how to use your existing skillset along with some new skills to advance your clinical work in this regard.
Some of you may remember my popular podcast 'Hypnosis Weekly' that is sadly no longer available publicly - all episodes ever recorded are available in the hub, along with all the latest recordings of the UK Hypnosis Convention that we recorded at the end of last year, including keynote David Spiegel and our interview with Jonathan Goodwin (you can read more about the UKHC video sets that are available for purchase here).
There is so much additional education, loads of courses, additional support and resources included and that can be accessed if you are a member of my Hypnotherapist Development Hub. Visit the link here for full details on how to subscribe to it monthly or annually.
