This One Was For Me - BUT You May Need It As Well
|
Hello and welcome to this weeks edition of Adam Up, Monday of this week was a new day for me in more than the usual sense...
Since I ran my Intensive Hypnotherapy Diploma course at the end of last month, then started the new hypnotherapy diploma, having not had a day off for over a month, I rested, and had half a day off...
and this weekend, I'll properly rest and recuperate and can't wait to crack on with my new running schedule. Yes indeed, my training for my final marathon of the year is now underway.
Yet all that work, along with all the other marathons I have run this year seems to have turned me into an old man. At times, I feel like my posture has gone crooked, and that I am somehow as withered as when my gardens plants have not been watered adequately (not likely at the moment though!) and I feel in need of some renewal.Whilst investigating and exploring my own archives for a self-hypnosis approach to get me on track with my training this weekend then, I encountered a process that has been used to help deal with osteoporosis, but has also been used for a wide range of applications. The metaphor inherent within the process meant I got to indulge myself in some fantasy... Lord of the Rings style.
You'll maybe not be as avid a fan of Lord of the Rings as I am, so allow me to introduce to you the Ents. In Tolkien's books, the Ents are an ancient species of trees, referred to as the shepherds of the trees and though they look like trees, they are able to talk, reason, feel, understand and possess wisdom of anyone who lives for hundreds of years, and are pretty tough beings too... Gimli, as with most dwarves are not big fans of Forests, or Ents and he is quoted as saying:"Talking trees! What would trees have to talk about except the consistency of squirrel droppings?"Most people wouldn't, I suppose, but I found that to be very funny.

Tree Of Rejuvenation
|
|
Trees are central to our process today, and though I used the imagery I associated with Ents from my early teenage years, you do not have to use the same imagery. In fact, I urge you to tailor this type of session, as with most of the processes that I share here, in the way that suits you the best.
Essentially, you are going to liken yourself to, and represent yourself as, a tree within this process and use it to invigorate, refresh, strengthen and enhance. It can be used to revitalize, to rejuvenate and also to get energized and driven as well as to feel healthier and healthier.
|
|
Steps To Rejuvenate Using Self-Hypnosis: |
Get yourself into a place where you'll be undisturbed for the duration of this session, get sat or be lying down, with your hands and feet not touching each other and then follow these simple steps.
|
Step Two |
Imagine yourself in a private place in nature. Let there be plenty of space around you. Become aware of the colour of the sky, the weather, the temperature and design the environment to suit you.
Notice the colours and shades of light as well as the sounds; sounds that are nearby and those further away in the distance.
Importantly though, as you create this place in your mind, central to this area, ensure there is a tree. A tree that shares qualities that you have, a tree that is representative of who and how you are.
You may choose for it to be a huge ancient Oak tree. Or perhaps a sprawling, draped Willow tree. Perhaps even a fruit tree, or a flowering magnolia, choose and imagine whatever is right for you and whatever suits you and your own preferences best.
Just engage in this environment, tell yourself that each thing you see, hear and feel takes you deeper inside your mind and take some time to get this place just right for you. When you have really created this environment with the tree in the centre of it, then move on to the next step.
|
Step Three |
Notice that the health of the tree seems poor at the moment. Notice what it is about the tree that demonstrates that to be true currently.Perhaps it seems weak, perhaps it seems to be drooping, perhaps the colours show this.Maybe the tree gives off a sense of how it feels right now. However you notice it, just become aware that the tree is not at its optimum level of health at this time. When you get a sense of that, move on to the next step.
|
Step Four |
Imagine that you reach deep into your mind to find what it is that this tree needs right now.You might imagine changing the weather, making is rain powerfully, and then shining the sunshine upon it. You may imagine the perfect tree food, compost, solution and you pour it around the roots of the tree. You may imagine digging arouond the base of tree and feeding the tree in some way before filling it all back in again. Find all the nutrients and water and other elements that the tree needs right now and begin to deliver them to the tree.
Continue to tell yourself that each thing you give the tree takes you deeper and deeper inside of your mind and once you have spent a good period of time delivering all this wonderful goodness to the tree, then move on to the next step.
|
Step Five |
Watch the tree absorb and almost consume all these nutrients and this goodness. Start to imagine it and watch those nutrients now being drawn upwards and inwards into the tree. Imagine the roots drawing it all upwards, imagine the leaves soaking up the goodness and start top notice change happening within the tree.Notice the leaves changing into a healthier, more vibrant colour. Watch the tree standing upright and looking firmer and stronger. Let that goodness and healthiness be discovered by each and every branch, twig, leaf and beyond. Notice the vibrancy, the rejuvenation and the invigoration spreading through the tree.
Continue to take as long as you require on this step to ensure that the tree is notably different, vibrant, invigorated, stronger and altogether more healthy, and when you are absolutely certain the tree is that way, move on to the next step
|
Step Six |
Now imagine that you are experiencing something similar within yourself.Imagine goodness coursing through your veins. Imagine your bones getting stronger. Imagine colour filling your cheeks and skin. Imagine your hair having a healthy shine, imagine a sparkle in your eyes, a smile on your face and imagine your posture changing, firming up and that the crown of your head is pointing upwards above you.Adjust your posture, take a couple of good deep breaths, continue to engage in this and imagine the changes happening to you, imagine nutrients reaching you and all the time tell yourself that you are feleling healthier, more energized and invigorated and rejuvenated.
When you start to really notice some difference within yourself, move on to the next step.
|
Step Seven |
Now start to think about the day ahead of you, or think of things you plan to do. Imagine being there, doing those things with vigour and enthusiasm. Really see the sights, hear the sounds and feel the satisfaction of getting this done and notice how people react and respond to you. Notice how good you feel.Tell yourself that you are certain this is going to happen, and when you have undeniably convinced yourself of this happening, when you belief that you are absolutely going to do this thing and let yourself get driven, then move on to the next final step.
|
Step Eight |
Step Eight: Take a couple more big energising breaths and wiggle your fingers and toes, then open your eyes to bring yourself out of hypnosis and bring the session to an end.Right now resolve to go and take some action that is proof to you that you are enlivened, rejuvenated and feeling stronger and raring to go... And go do it!Practice this over and over for a few days to really get it lodged into your mind and then as you take more action, notice how you shook off any old, unwanted slump... It is working for me so far...

HELEN JOHNSTONE - HAMPSHIRE "I attended the 10 month course which ran from October 2011- July 2012. The course is interesting, fun, fast paced, encouraging, confidence building, skill packing and very professionally run by Adam and his team. Realistically, it required a lot of committment in time and effort, which in reality was easy to give with the knowledge and new zest for learning that Adam's enthusiasm brings.
Adam and his team were of constant support to me throughout the course and I feel lucky to be able to consider them to be good friends and confidantes now. I have qualified and feel confident that the knowledge, confidence, skills and practical experience I have gained during this course will serve me very well in practice"..

GEORGE WATSON - GLENROTHES, FIFE, SCOTLAND "I booked up to Adam Eason School of Therapeutic Hypnosis in 2010, and I really did not know what to expect, I was very interested in Hypnosis, but what is taught throughout the diploma course is by far the best around. Adam's very unique style is very uplifting and thorough and I leave his school with much more knowledge and well trained in clinical hypnotherapy. If you want trained to the high standard that Therapeutic Hypnotherapy should attain then look no further than Adam's School"
